A historical look at Busan
Due to its excellent natural harbor, the city was an important trading center in early times and served as one of the main gateways to the Korean Peninsula. In the 15th century, during the Joseon Dynasty, Busan officially became a trading center, especially through trade with the Japanese. A major event in modern history occurred during the Korean War, when Busan was one of the few cities that never fell. The city became a temporary capital.
Locals are proud of their cultural heritage, which is reflected in the many festivals, art events and traditional Korean performances.

Spa Land: the best spa experience:
If you’ve been to Korea on the Victoria Residential Ship or by yourself, you must experience a traditional bath. Spa Land is the largest and most luxurious spa center in South Korea.
It has 22 different saunas, each with a different temperature and climate, including traditional Korean saunas, Finnish saunas and steam baths.
Thermal waters rich in minerals help to relax and rejuvenate the skin. Rest, relax or detox in special rooms such as the gold, oasis or salt therapy room.
These rooms are called Jimjilbangs, they are very awesome, but you have to strip completely naked before entering. Jumjilbang etiquette can be confusing, here I summarize everything you definitely need to know about Korean jimjilbang
- jimjilbangs are separated by gender (men go to one side of the building and women to the other)
- the water areas and baths are separated by gender
- saunas and communal areas are enjoyed by both men and women wearing jimjilbang pajamas
- when you enter the wet areas, everyone is completely naked
- rubbing is an integral part of jimjilbang etiquette, you will notice that Koreans rub each other, if someone comes and suddenly starts rubbing your back, don’t be surprised
- for the real jimjilbang experience, get a scrub from one of the ajumma (older Korean women). This scrub, also known as a seshin, takes about 30 minutes, not a gentle massage. You should know these ladies are naked
- Spa Land is tourist friendly as they have English speaking staff, feel free to ask them, they will explain everything
Haedong Yongguangsa Temple
One of the most spectacular Buddhist shrines in South Korea, it is unique for its coastal location, as Buddhist shrines are usually located in mountains or forests, and attracts visitors for its historical significance. The Temple by The Sea was built in 1376, partially destroyed during the Japanese invasion of Korea, and then rebuilt in the 1930s. The temple complex contains several significant statues, including a huge gilded Buddha statue. The 108 steps leading to the entrance of the temple symbolize the 108 steps of enlightenment.
Busaan Air Cruise (Songdo Cable Car)
The cable car departs from Songdo Sky Park and transports passengers over the sea on a modern 1.62 km long route. The lift offers different types of cabins, including cabins with glass floors to make your ride even more exciting
