If you didn’t already know, Florence is hosting Pitti Uomo this week — one of the world’s most influential men’s fashion events. A massive showcase of creativity, craftsmanship and trends. And yet, once you’re here, you quickly realize something important:
You don’t fall in love with the clothes.
You fall in love with the people.

Perfectly styled. Effortlessly confident. Beautiful in a way that feels natural, not staged. During Pitti Uomo, Florence becomes a place where style walks, pauses for espresso, and poses casually against Renaissance walls.
The 109th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, dedicated to the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 men’s collections, opened on January 13 and runs until January 16. More than 750 Italian and international brands are presenting their visions, ranging from timeless tailoring to experimental urban fashion.
Officially, Pitti Uomo takes place inside the historic Fortezza da Basso, a 16th-century fortress transformed into the world’s leading platform for men’s fashion and accessories. Buyers, designers, journalists, influencers and fashion lovers arrive from every corner of the globe.
But the real Pitti Uomo doesn’t live inside the exhibition halls.
It lives outside, in the streets.

During these days, Florence feels different. The rhythm of the city shifts. Suddenly, perfectly tailored two- and three-piece suits become everyday attire. Hats are worn with intention. Scarves are draped with confidence. Shoes matter. Details matter.
The area around Fortezza da Basso turns into an open-air stage where style becomes performance. Influencers pause mid-walk, photographers appear out of nowhere, and passersby slow down just to watch.
This is where the unwritten ritual of Pitti Uomo unfolds.
Influencers — known in Italy as modaioli — play a subtle game of recognition. Spotting each other, capturing images, sharing moments instantly across social platforms. This living folklore is one of the most fascinating aspects of Pitti Uomo, loved by both industry insiders and curious onlookers.

They come from everywhere: Spain, France, the UK, the United States, and all regions of Italy — interestingly, less often from Florence itself. Ask them why they return year after year, and the answer is almost always the same: visibility. Pitti Uomo is where presence is currency, and being seen matters.
What makes it unforgettable, however, is Florence itself.
Historic architecture softens even the boldest outfits. Winter light reflects off stone façades. Espresso bars spill onto the sidewalks. The city doesn’t compete with fashion — it elevates it. During Pitti Uomo, Florence becomes both backdrop and participant.
You don’t need to be a fashion professional to enjoy it. You don’t need to analyze collections or trends. Simply being here is enough. Sitting near the Fortezza, observing the flow of people, listening to different languages, and watching style move naturally through the city is an experience in itself.
Because Pitti Uomo is not just a fashion fair.
It’s a few days when Florence feels sharper, braver and undeniably more alive.
And yes — you fall in love.
